Mentoring
Are you a new Brome-Missisquoi entrepreneur who cares deeply about your company’s success? Are you an experienced entrepreneur who would like to share your business skills and wisdom?
Business mentoring is a relationship based on mutual respect and trust that is built by a new entrepreneur – called a “protégé” – and an experienced entrepreneur, known as the “mentor”. The mentor provides support, offers a listening ear and advices the protégé without ever passing judgement. A mentoring relationship is above all a joint effort, through which each clarifies his or her expectations, defines his or her role, and sets realistic goals. The mentor and protégé work together toward one common, overarching goal: the company’s success.
Business mentoring can apply to all sectors of the economy, whether it be trade, services, the manufacturing industry, agriculture, health, institutions, community services, social economy, etc. It is important to underline that this service is not only available when a company is experiencing tough times. Business mentoring applies equally to companies in transitional or development phases: a business that is already doing well can always do better. The role of mentors, possessing vast management experience and great generosity, is mainly to foster the development of business skills and abilities in entrepreneurs and “intrapreneurs” (managers of companies owned by someone else).
The mentoring service allows:
- Skills-transfer support
- Improvement of entrepreneurs’ management skills
- Support for the next generation of entrepreneurs
- Encouragement of companies’ growth
