A Sutton en blues show nominated for the Lys Blues
Productions Kazou has revealed that the performance by Mike Goudreau on November 14 2009 at Sutton en Blues has been nominated for the Lys Blues. After eight years of effort and shows that have increasingly raised its profile, the selection committee of the Lys Blues has chosen to reward one of the bigger shows held at the Auberge des Appalaches.
During the ninth edition spectators will be invited to vote for their favourite group, those they would like to see come back on stage to celebrate the 10th edition. This will be a memorable festival, because it will only include the crème de la crème of Quebec and Canadian blues.
People have until April 10 to vote for the Mike Goudreau show on the Net Blues site (which Productions Kazou strongly encourages!). The 2010 Lys Blues gala will be held at the Théâtre Plaza and will be hosted by none other than Martin Lachance. Many renowned and up and coming artists will be on stage for this four-hour mega show (six shows – 16 awards presented). For the public wanting to take part in the gala, tickets are for sale on the Net Blues site.

New life for Brasseurs et frÈres in Dunham
The Brasseurs et frères microbrewery in Dunham has been given new life. Founded in 2006 by the three Gadoua brothers, the business now includes three new shareholders, the brothers Gaétan and Bernard Gadoua having withdrawn from the project. For his part Jean Gadoua, one of the founders, remains with the company.
The business has changed its name to Brasserie Dunham in a spirit of continuity, but also renewal. The beers developed by Brasseurs et frères will continue to be produced and a new selection of specialty products will also be available over the coming year.
An important expansion project is underway, accompanied by a reinvestment of more than $300,000, made possible by the financial participation of Investissement Québec, of the CAE Haute-Yamaska et regions, the CLD and the Centre Financier aux Entreprises Desjardins de Granby.
Over the coming year production will increase from 1,150 to 2,500 hectolitres per year. In the short term the business will create eight jobs, five full-time and three part-time. The increase in its production and bottling capacity will allow it to meet the demand coming from new, developing markets and a distribution contract signed with a regional distributor.
The new team, made up of Jean Gadoua, Sébastien Gagnon, Hugues Dumontier and Jocelyn Bérubé, has solid experience in the field of brewing.
Opening hours and events:
Take note that the pub is presently open from Thursday to Saturday after 4 p.m. As of June 3, it will be open Thursdays and Fridays from 3 p.m. and from noon on Saturdays and Sundays. The kitchen is open each day from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
As of April 16 the pub will host traditional music sessions every two weeks, on Saturdays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. with Pascal Gemme and regional musicians.
All of the Montreal Canadiens playoff games will also be shown.

Support for 66 projects thanks to $487,500 in financial aid
Investments of more than $2 million in the region
Thanks to the Rural Pact Fund, the cultural fund and the tourism event support fund, the Brome-Missisquoi MRC and CLD are supporting a total of 66 projects in the region thanks to an amount of $487,500. These monies will be directly injected into development projects for tourism, cultural, recreation and basic services like high speed Internet and the recruitment of doctors, and have generated a total of nearly $2 million in investments.
The Rural Pact Fund
This year 48 projects will benefit from financial aid from the Brome-Missisquoi MRC’s Rural Pact. This aid totals $450,000 and will generate major investments of $1.4 million. All of the projects being financed respond to needs expressed by the communities and regional challenges. Among others, some projects favour access to basic services, while others will contribute to tourism development or the improvement of cultural and recreational offerings. Remember that the Rural Pact is an agreement signed between the MRC and the Quebec government to promote the rural milieu and ensure a dynamic occupation of the territory. This seven-year agreement, which will conclude in 2014, will breathe $3 million into projects in Brome-Missisquoi. This fund is for non-profit organizations, municipalities, social service networks, health and education.

Cultural fund
In 2010, 10 projects will receive a total of $25,000 in financing and generate $188,794 worth of investments in Brome-Missisquoi. In place for nine years the cultural fund, financed by the Brome-Missisquoi MRC and CLD, is paying particular attention in 2010 to projects that supply a showcase for the region’s artists and organizations, as well as allowing for the consolidation of cultural organizations that are established and bring together many artists and craftspeople from the region. This year 19 requests totaling a value of $441,869 were presented and analyzed by members of an independent jury. The MRC will soon be seeking to increase the cultural fund with a public-private partnership in order to increasingly meet the needs of the milieu.

The goal of this financial aid is to help promote tourism events outside the region. The projects being supported will generate investments in the order of $536,480 in the region.
