Mont SUTTON

50 seasons of passion

Fifty years ago there was a great dream of a passionate family, the Boulanger’s. This dream was to develop the mountain at Sutton and to make a unique ski station where lovers of winter could ski to their heart’s content in enchanting surroundings. A place where one can find as much pleasure for the eyes as challenges for the feet! The Boulanger’s dream became a reality on December 17, 1960 at the grand opening of Mont SUTTON.

Réal Boulanger, the visionary of Mont SUTTON wanted at any price to develop a mountain where the skiers would come back again and again to practice this sport with passion. It is in this spirit that Réal imagined the tiniest details to develop Mont SUTTON. Now 50 years later, the enthusiasts still gather there and are unanimous in their love for this mountain which most consider to be “unlike any other”.

Take part in the celebrations!
Since the beginning of its 50th season, Mont SUTTON has organized special activities and some little surprises for their customers on given days. The station is keeping it up! As well as regular season activities, written on the calendar there can be found activities around the “50” theme such as the reunion supper, “Retro” days for the 50th season, 50thrallies…

Many “50” promotions are also on the calendar: each last Wednesday of the month, one can get a 50% reduction on their skiing by presenting the coupon offered online; cultural après-ski at the Salle Alec et Gérard Pelletier in February; free après-ski in March at Spa Bolton; 50th season gifts at the mountain, and more! Assessment and a look to the future

CeraMystic will be back for its 7th edition from June 24 to July 4.

But before getting into the action, the event will give a quick overview of the last six years. From the beginning it was given as its mission to make the professional creative ceramicists from here and elsewhere better known at the event. Living on one’s art is never easy, and CeraMystic, through its sales and its educational side contributes to this promotional effort and to a greater awareness of the region’s wonderful talents. From 20 artists at the beginning, we now have about 30. The hamlet of Mystic lends itself well to this type of event, and we have made sure to ensure the involvement of many: residents, neighbours, graphic artists, musicians, innkeepers, guardians, and horticultural advisors. As for everyone who visited the event, the organizers appreciated their kindness and encouragement.

On the regional level, they developed wonderful partnerships with all kinds of suppliers. They exchanged promotional material with the region’s wineries and encouraged their visitors to go and visit the local producers.

CeraMystic thanks its collaborators and partners without which none of this would have been possible: SODEC, MRC Cultural Fund, the Ministère de la Culture, des Communications et de la Condition féminine, the CLD’s Tourism Event Support Fund, Eurospa, the Caisses populaires of Farnham and Bedford, SAQ, the Town of Bedford, Graymont, Bedford quarry, Au Saucisson Vaudois, Le Fumet, Restaurant Farnham. And to the “guinguette,” Loraine, Linda and Julie.

The organizers are already working on deciding the invited ceramicists for 2010, by trying to balance continuity and renewal. The “featured” guest will be Guy Simonies, who is already at work with the aim of presenting a collection specially designed for CeraMystic 2010. This year, the CeraMystic gallery presents “The Bowl – 35,000 years of evolution.”

Until the opening on June 24, Sue Hughes and Jacques Marsot, will be working non-stop to put together this 7th edition for the immense pleasure of their 5,000 visitors, and maybe more…
